Christopher E. Gottfried practices civil litigation in state and federal court, focusing on administrative and regulatory law and healthcare matters.
Prior to joining Panza, Maurer & Maynard, Mr. Gottfried worked for a boutique law firm handling complex civil and criminal fraud matters primarily in healthcare. While there, Mr. Gottfried represented clients from numerous healthcare backgrounds, such as executives at large physician practice groups and hospital chains, compounding pharmacies, managed care organizations, ambulatory surgical centers, and physicians. This representation involved dealing with numerous federal and state governmental agencies, and concerned the federal and Florida Anti-Kickback Statutes, the federal Stark Law, the federal and Florida False Claims Act, the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act, Florida’s Patient Brokering Act, and various hospital and physician billing laws and regulations.
In addition, Mr. Gottfried has extensive experience handling complex fraud trials and appeals. For instance, Mr. Gottfried was part of the trial team that successfully received a top 100 national verdict in 2014 on behalf of a former smoker, who was defrauded by a tobacco company. Similarly, Mr. Gottfried successfully affirmed various verdicts on appeal in Florida’s appellate courts. Mr. Gottfried uses these diverse experiences to best represent his clients.
Mr. Gottfried earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami in 2012, and earned a bachelor of science degree with honors in research in cell and developmental biology from Purdue University in 2008.
Mr. Gottfried is licensed to practice law in Florida and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
