Her extensive legal background is in litigation with an emphasis in regulatory and administrative work. Her primary practice areas have been in healthcare and academic law. For 40 years, she has provided advice and counsel to regulated industries and academic institutions, both public and private.

As a Commercial Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, Mrs. Maurer has arbitrated multiple healthcare, insurance and commercial matters. Mrs. Maurer has represented acute care chains and specialty care hospital providers on issues of licensure, reimbursement and fraud and abuse.

She has developed compliance plans and navigated multi-million dollar investigations for healthcare providers. Her work spans a broad range of regulatory and administrative matters affecting both public and private institutions.

Healthcare & Academic Law

Mrs. Maurer has extensive experience advising healthcare institutions and academic medical centers. She has represented hospitals, specialty care providers, and academic institutions on complex regulatory matters including licensure, reimbursement, fraud and abuse, and compliance.

Her healthcare practice includes developing comprehensive compliance plans, navigating state and federal investigations, and representing providers before regulatory agencies and administrative tribunals.

Prior Positions & Experience

Susan's distinguished career includes service with the United States Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs and the City of Miami Legal Department. She served as Adjunct Faculty and General Counsel for Nova Southeastern University, General Counsel for Community Mental Health Center, Inc., General Counsel for the Florida Workers' Compensation Insurance Guarantee Association, and Assistant General Counsel for the Broward Principals and Assistants Association.

Community Involvement

Susan has served on the boards of numerous community organizations, including the American Lung Association, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Temple Bat Yam, Nova Southeastern University President's Advisory Council, and the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art.

Susan Horovitz Maurer is a native Floridian. Raised in Miami and currently lives in Broward County. She is fortunately married to Laurence Maurer, Esquire and has two awesome children.
